Winkie's unity challenge to Norfolk churches

2009: Church leaders across Norwich and Norfolk have been challenged with a message of unity from youth communicator, Christian apologist, evangelist and writer Winkie Pratney (right) while he was in the city this week.

Winkie was visiting Norwich as the guest of Proclaimers Church, who invited senior church leaders to meet the man that helped pioneer contemporary Christian communication in the 1980s and has remained a prophetic voice to the modern culture ever since.

He spoke about the two common elements of any revival of God as being common unusual prayer and common unity being present in a local body of Christ.

Winkie challenged the church leaders present to promote unity and: “to treasure the gifting and calling of your neighbour and honour other ministries that you might dwell in unity, for then the Lord commands a blessing.

“You should by intent choose to honour one another and their giftings and not publicly put down or criticise one another, even those you disagree with,” said Winkie.

For three decades Winkie has provided a powerful, incisive Christian insight into youth culture and is often referred to as the world's oldest teenager, speaking to over half-a-million young people annually in churches, schools, universities and at Christian orientated festivals.

He has frequently been involved as an advisor and consultant to church, civic, education and social welfare leaders on the needs and challenges of today’s teenagers. His technical background in both science and popular music culture has given him a unique perspective on the issues of our modern, media-dominated society.

He is a frequent guest on national television, at international Christian conferences and has published over 20 books and continues to be one of the most in-demand youth speakers of our time.
