Norwich church hall reopens after £100k refurb

StCatHallInside2010: An historic Norwich church hall is set to reopen on Friday night (May 21) following a £100k refurbishment to its roof, windows and wood panelling.

St Catherine’s Church Hall in Mile Cross will be re-opened by the Archdeacon of Norwich at 7pm and the local community has been invited to come along at 7.30pm and take a look at the work and at displays from hall users.

The Grade 2 listed Hall has had major repairs to the roof, replacement windows on one side with bespoke timber frames, redecoration and revarnishing of the floor and wood panelling.

Joyce Lincoln, from the church, said: “It does look fantastic... but there is still more to do, more windows to be replaced and more decoration.  It is a wonderful resource for the local community and statements made in our Hall Comments Book underline the 'fresh' look of the hall

StCatHallOutside“A door has been created which will lead into part of the vicarage garden, which will be securely fenced off for use by community groups, ie Totstop, Guides and Scouts.

“We hope the local community will come along to the opening when some of the Hall user groups will have displays. I am sure it will be interesting to Mile Cross residents, and those who have been hall users in the past.”

On Saturday June 19, at 7.30pm, there will be a concert in the church with Reprise performing songs from the world of musical theatre including Phantom of the Opera, Guys and Dolls, Evita and Les Miserales.  Tickets are £7 in advance or £8 on the door and include a glass of Pimms, or fruit juice from 7pm.

This is in aid of the Church Development Fund.  Tickets are available from Margaret on 01603 864256 or Simon on 07766 604710.
