Former cop and crook speak at Norwich dinner

A former Policeman and a former crook, whose lives were both changed when they met Jesus, spoke at the FGB dinner in Norwich on Thursday July 18 at the presidential Suite of the Mercure Hotel.

DaveRiley374Former crook and Hell's Angel Colin Pownall (pictured above) and ex Policeman Dave Riley (pictured right) told their stories of faith at the dinner in Norwich.

Colin is a former drug addict and prisoner, who said he used to hate policemen. Once he had become a Christian, and a Prison Chaplain, he found that he loved policemen, and gave police officers present a big hug at the end of the evening.

"I was brought up in children's homes, then mental hospitals, then from one prison to another," said Colin. "My life was filled with hatred for all people fuelled by drug addiction and alcoholism. Before I became a Christian I broke most of the God's laws and knew I was on a one-way trip to hell."

Former Policeman Dave Riley is now president of FGB in Warrington, where Colin is a fellow member.

The Mercure Hotel is on the ring road at 121-131 Boundary Road,   Norwich NR3 2BA, opposite the Asda retail complex.

The dinner is one of the regular monthly dinner evenings where speakers share ‘new life stories’. These events, open to all, are arranged by the Norwich Chapter of the Full Gospel Businessmen, (FGB), part of a worldwide fellowship.

FGB is endorsed by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, who says: “We need more men like them.”
