SOUL Church hosted around 400 people for a special service on the site of their new building on Heartsease Lane.

If you’ve driven along Heartsease Lane recently, you’ll have noticed a huge new building going up on the site of the former Family Life Centre. The centre tragically burned down back in 2006 and the church, now SOUL Church, has been meeting on Mason Road.

Having been granted permission to rebuild on the Heartsease Lane site, the church broke ground in 2021. The steel frame and roof are now in place and the church held a special service last Sunday, their first one in the building. Around 400 people gathered for the occasion.

Senior Pastor Jon Norman said, "This was a momentous day for our church. We’ve been faithfully trusting God for this. We have a social supermarket, wellbeing groups, toddlers, teens and more on our current site and we’ve outgrown it. Our new home on Heartsease Lane will be able to host all these groups and so many more. It’s going to be a huge community asset for our city. We’re delighted to have had the chance to hold a service inside the frame of the building – just a taster of what’s to come.”
