Yarmouth area churches offer Warm Rooms

Several churches and a theatre in the Great Yarmouth area are opening their doors to people who are struggling to heat their homes and keep warm during the cost of living crisis.

The parish church of Great Yarmouth has organised Warm Room sessions at the Minster, pictured above, every day between 10am and noon. Pam Spychal from the church says that whilst a warm welcome and a cuppa are on offer, they cannot guarantee how warm the large medieval building will be!

St Mary's Church on Southtown Road is open on Mondays from 10am to 12 noon and from 10.15am to 12 noon on Wednesdays, whilst St Paul's Church in Salisbury Road is open on Mondays from 2pm to 4pm. The Minster Mission in Admiralty Road is also open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 11.45am and 1.30pm.

St Mary Magdalene Church in Gorleston is inviting people to attend its Warm Room sessions on Mondays between 10am and 12 noon, Tuesdays between 11.30pm and 2.30pm with a free hot meal, between 9am and noon on Wednesdays and 10am to 12 noon on Fridays.

A church statement said: "As the temperatures begin to drop, you will find a warm welcome at St Mary Magdalene Church this winter. Come and find a warm space, free refreshments, access to Wi-Fi and good company."

The churches are supported by the Norfolk Community Foundation.

A Warm Hub will also operate at Great Yarmouth’s St George’s Theatre café during the winter.
