Sheringham church launches grocery club

Sheringham Food Club, run by the local Salvation Army, will opening for a trial period starting this week selling essentials at low cost to help people struggling financially.

The shop is housed in a steel shipping container which has been clad in timber boards, located in the church’s car park in Co-Op Street in the town.

The project, which was made public last August when planning permission was sought, is intended to help people struggling with increases in the cost of living. The new shop would help to meet the increasing demand for support. The Salvation Army has joined forces with the Norfolk Community Foundation - an independent local group aiming to help build communities - which has provided the initial funding.

The shop will be open this week from 1pm to 3pm on Thursday, and from 10am to 12 noon on Friday. Membership forms can be obtained from the Salvation Army Hall, across the road in Cremer Street, or from their charity shop in Church Street. A downloadable version will be available on the church website after Christmas.
