North Norfolk churches join up for prayer night

Lighthouse Community Church in Sheringham will be joining forces with Cromer Parish Church this Friday for a half-night of prayer, and anyone is warmly welcome to join them. Tony Rothe reports.

Cromer church 518ATAttendees of both churches will meet up at Lighthouse at 8pm on Friday 24 March for an evening of worship and prayer, finishing at midnight. The evening will be split into an hourly pattern with 50 minutes of prayer and worship, calling on God for our nation and the Church followed by a ten minute break, when tea and coffee will be available. Anyone is very welcome to join in for all or part of the evening, and can stay as long as they wish.

This event will be the culmination of a week of prayer for Lighthouse Community Church. They will be gathering for prayer each evening from 7pm to 7.30pm on the Tuesday, Wednesday and  Thursday leading up to the prayer night.

Ian Savory 750ATLighthouse leader Ian Savory, right, explains: “We will be praying all week for this year’s theme – Encounter.
Firstly, that we will encounter Jesus Christ – the Living God. We do need to be drenched and saturated in the presence of God. We will also be praying that we will encounter each other – we must be in community with each other – that is what church is. Finally that people who aren’t Christians yet will encounter who Jesus is.”

Two weeks later, Lighthouse will be holding a baptismal service and infant dedication on Easter Sunday, 9 April. They are expecting at least three people to be baptised by immersion in the pool in the church, in what promises to be a great day of celebration.
