Norwich church's random acts of Lent kindness

Gateway Vineyard church members in Norwich, Beccles and Hellesdon have been carrying out hundreds of acts of random kindness over Lent for family, friends, neighbours and complete strangers.

The acts of kindness included giving flowers to neighbours, cakes to teachers and chocolates to refuse collectors and a group of youngsters visited a care home to sing to residents, dance for them and give them gifts.

Organiser Hannah Wiltshire said: “We have been running kindness project over Lent for several years now. This year it included litter picks, open meals, a garden clearance, giving away over 1,000 Easter eggs in Norwich city centre, a holiday club for children and collecting hundreds of toiletry items for young families.

“It's been brilliant to see so many people gather to share kindness in so many different ways individually and together during Lent. There's been such a great atmosphere of teamwork, encouragement and a willingness to try something new, big or small and see what God does with our offering of simply being a little more intentionally kind, in our everyday spaces and places that we are,” said Hannah.

“Now that Lent has ended there's so much enthusiasm for making some of the events and community clean ups/connections more ongoing and longer term, which is absolutely fantastic to see."
