New president for FGB Fellowship in Norwich

BarrieLawrence4202012: Dr Barrie Lawrence has been elected the new president of Norwich chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship.

Born in Norfolk and trained at the London Hospital, Barrie led a five-surgery practice with several dentists and hygienists. In 1984, he started a branch dental practice in Aylsham and opened a Christian bookshop there the same year.

Barrie is taking over the Norwich FGB president’s role from Michael Wiltshire, who remains a vice-president and a national director for FGB in the UK, but who is stepping back a little due to health reasons. Tony Gardiner also remains a vice-president for the Norwich Chapter.

Barrie and Wendy Lawrence have six daughters living in five different countries. The couple have close links with churches in the region and are now part of Liberty, a growing church that currently meets in their home at Frettenham.

Barrie has been associated with the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship since it started in the region more than 30 years ago. In the early days, the late Dr Sedley Pimlott, pioneer founder of Mount Zion Church (now renamed Norwich Family Life Church), put his hand on Barrie’s shoulder one evening and prophesied, “One day you’ll be president of the FGB fellowship in this city.”

Other FGB officers recently appointed include Dr Andrew Gibson, secretary; Mark Skittrall, treasurer; Rod Robertson, chief steward; and Robert Osborne (01603 782 432) who will continue to take bookings for FGB events including the next Norwich dinner at the Brook Hotel, Bowthorpe, on Friday, February 10, at 7 for 7.30pm when the speaker will be Steve Mills from Bolton.
