All Hallows Guesthouse at Norwich Julian Shrine

Come and stay where Julian of Norwich lived and wrote. All Hallows offers comfortable, affordable self-guided retreat accommodation with an emphasis on environmentally friendly, simple living.

This unique urban retreat is the perfect place to find space away from it all, in the place where Julian of Norwich lived and wrote.

Following an extensive renovation project, All Hallows House reopened in Summer 2022 as a guesthouse and retreat centre attached to the Julian of Norwich Shrine at St Julian’s Church next door. The former convent has been completely refurbished and offers seven beautiful bedrooms with single, twin and double rooms available. Three of the rooms overlook the secret churchyard garden next door, with views onto Julian of Norwich’s Cell, St Julian’s Church and the cathedral spire beyond.

AllHallowsPatio750Six of the bedrooms are upstairs and offer a private sink with easy access to shared bath, shower and toilet facilities. There is also an accessible room downstairs with step-free shower room. Guests are welcome to enjoy a wide range of common areas, including our wild garden, private chapel, Julian of Norwich study space and Reference Library, cosy sitting room with log fire, and state-of-the-art self-catering kitchen with communal dining space.

All Hallows Guesthouse aims to provide peaceful, comfortable and restful accommodation to all, without compromising on ethical and environmental principles. Bedding is made from recycled materials, and all linen is organic cotton. Continental breakfast is provided free with all bookings and includes a range of homemade or locally sourced ingredients, including where possible organic products.

Guests are invited to join the natural rhythms of the house, with daily prayer taking place at St Julian’s next door, as well as candlelit compline services on select evenings throughout the week in the house chapel, the perfect way to close a day. The pace of life at All Hallows is quiet and unhurried, and whether you are looking for community or on the hunt for solitude there is a place for you here.
