Show your support during Indie News Week

As the premier source of independent Christian news in Norwich and Norfolk for the past almost 19 years, Network Norfolk is taking part in the first-ever Indie News Week, with the opportunity for you to show your support for the website throughout June.

Backed by the Public Interest News Foundation, Indie News Week, from June 3 to 9, is a moment for communities across the country to celebrate local news and to shine a spotlight on the importance of truly independent news outlets within their communities.

Under the banner of ‘No News is Bad News’, Indie News Week will comprise an online, print and in-person rollout with community events run by independent and independent local news outlets up and down the UK, including by Network Norfolk.

During the week, readers can read independent news stories about the Norfolk Christian community, meet the journalists who write the headlines and pick up some free tips on how to more effectively promote their church, charity, campaign or appeal in the media.

They also have the opportunity to make a donation to help ensure the future of Network Norfolk - with the promise of their donation being doubled by the Indie News Fund during the whole of June. So if you want to support us by making a donation, during June is the best time to do it.

Publisher Keith Morris said: “During Indie News Week, you can meet most of our team of content creators who write the news and features about the Norfolk Christian community, ask them about what we do and tell us what you would like us to showcase for you.

“Our team of writers will be in locations across Norfolk, including Norwich, Sheringham and Great Yarmouth to meet you, hear your stories and offer tips on how to promote the great work that you are doing in your community.”

Jonathan Heawood, PINF's Executive Director, said: “Indie news providers are the unsung heroes of local communities across the UK, unearthing stories and informing their audiences. Through Indie News Week, we want to say thank you to the enterprising journalists and editors who make up this sector and help them connect even more deeply with their communities.

“The ‘No News is Bad News’ campaign is founded on the belief that a well-informed community is more able to act together to shape its own future, that local news is fundamental to a healthy democratic society and invaluable in helping to create strong communities.”
