Norfolk pupils' Stations of the Cross artwork trail

During Holy Week people in Harleston followed the 14 Stations of the Cross, enjoying artwork created by the Primary Phase of Harleston Sancroft Academy.

Each class in the Primary Phase of Harleston Sancroft Academy had the opportunity during the term to create a large piece of artwork representing a Station of the Cross. These stations were placed throughout the town, creating a trail in shop windows that people were able to follow and recall the journey of the Cross.
 
The stations culminated in a station of the Resurrection, created by Year 1, which was displayed in St John the Baptist Church and formed a central part of the Easter Sunday Communion Service as a visible reminder of the Risen Christ. The Primary Phase of the School used and commissioned the images at their end of term Easter Service on Friday March 31, with each year group offering readings and prayers whilst sharing the artwork they had created with the whole school.
 
There was also the opportunity to walk the way of the Cross on Good Friday, in an ecumenical gathering which followed the stations through the town. This time of devotion ended by remembering Jesus being placed in the tomb. Afterwards, enjoyed fellowship and refreshments at London Road Methodist & URC Church.
 
The ‘Stations of the Cross’ or the ‘Way of the Cross’ are a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his Crucifixion. Images are commonly displayed in order along a path for people to follow and engage in reflection and prayer at each step of Jesus Christ’s journey.
