Norfolk chaplaincy offers roadshow to churches

After the success of its first five years as a charity, Community Chaplaincy Norfolk (CCN) is offering to take its Celebration of Hope Roadshow to churches and other local venues.

CCN is a small Norwich based Christian charity, providing volunteer mentors to support people leaving prison to live in Norfolk.

Now it is offering a free presentation to churches, community groups, charities and places of work, where it will showcase its important work to help rehabilitate prison leavers.  As well as hearing from Mel, the CCN manager, it also hopes to bring along a mentor or client to share their lived experience of either giving or receiving the valuable help and support the charity can provide.

Established in 2018, CCN has worked with over 160 people resettling after a prison sentence.  Claire Gunn from CCN said: “Our aim is to reduce the likelihood of re-offending and our vision is to see clients become integrated, confident and fulfilled members of the community.  The challenges of reintegration into society are significant, and release can be a daunting prospect.  The talk will also include some interesting insights into the Criminal Justice System, which is often misunderstood and unknown to people outside of the system.

“We are proud of the dedication of our volunteers and the achievements of our clients and are seeking opportunities to share about our work, raise awareness and promote opportunities to get involved.  This could be through prayer support, finding out about volunteering or financially.  We can be flexible with time, date, venue and the duration of a presentation.”

If you would like to discuss the possibility of receiving a presentation about this work, either to your church as a whole, or to any groups within your church, workplace or community, you can make a booking or request further information by emailing info@norfolkchaplaincy.org.uk.
