The world Council of Churches (WCC) Annual Review 2023 For Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity is now available and makes interesting reading

The annual review records many of the WCC’s activities undertaken in 2023 and continuing into 2024.  The WCC is a global fellowship of churches which confess Jesus Christ as God and Saviour, according to the scriptures. The fellowship seeks to fulfil a common calling to the glory of the one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Their key message of Church Unity comes from the WCC 11th Assembly:

“We invite all to become pilgrims together. For in Christ, all things will be made new. His love which is open to all, including the last, the least, and the lost, and is offered to all, can move and empower us in a Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity.”

According to the review, the year 2023 was one of new beginnings: the WCC central committee met in person for the first time since the WCC 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe in September 2022, the WCC commissions were newly convened, and implementation of the WCC Strategic Plan for 2023- 2030 started. The WCC Annual Review includes a special visual section commemorating the WCC’s 75th anniversary and highlighting an unprecedented number of exhibitions that graced the Ecumenical Centre.
