Yarmouth Minster to host brass concert

Two community bands will come together for a free concert at the church.

The community-based brass bands will join forces for an evening of familiar music and song for Great Yarmouth. Great Yarmouth Brass and the Salvation Army’s West Midland Divisional Fellowship Band (WMDFB) will be putting on an entertaining, community-focussed performance which promises to delight all. The concert will take place on June 29, 7-9pm at The Minster, Great Yarmouth.

The evening is the brain-child of Great Yarmouth ‘old boy’ and WMDFB Band Master Charles King who wanted to come back to the place of his natural and musical origin and formation to celebrate with the town the rich legacy of brass playing in the Borough.

To enable all to attend without the constraints of financial burden, admission will be free. For those who can afford to show some appreciation for a great night of entertainment, there will be a retiring collection as people leave. All profits from the collection will be put towards two local charities: Great Yarmouth Salvation Army,  supporting the work they do in the Borough serving those in need, and The RNLI Gorleston Lifeboat, towards their life-saving work around the shores of Great Yarmouth.

Ali James, Territorial Envoy at Great Yarmouth Salvation Army commented: "we hope it will be an entertaining evening for the whole community which will help raise some money for two important causes."
